Museo Nacional de Antropologica de Mexico

After the Frida Kahlo museum, I plotted my next move. It took about 45 minutes to get there due to traffic, but the museum offered so much that it was worth it.

The Entrance of The Museum

Anthropology is the science of the origins, physical, and cultural development, biological characteristics, and social customs and beliefs of humankind. That’s a mouthful. Basically, it’s the study of life from the outside and not the inside like biology.

Inside the museum I found a model of Lucy, Austrolopithecus Afarensis.

Lucy’s bones were discovered in Ethiopia.

Then I went on to look around the other rooms. I moved very quickly and caused a few people to wonder what I was up to. It was for good reason, however. That museum and all its exhibits are expansive. It would take several visits to enjoy and appreciate all that it offers.

The stand out artifacts include the following:

An Olmec Head — The Olmec civilization is the oldest of all civilizations of Mexico.
The Mayan Calendar
The sight of a phallus is a delight because so much of the museum focuses on all things but sex.
