For breakfast we made our way to M’Dear’s (Mother Dear’s). This quaint diner nestled in the heart of the city’s deserving, but underserved community of South Los Angeles offers patrons a break from the faux fix of Southern cuisine McDonald’s serves daily. Uniquely, instead of conventional buttermilk pancakes and waffles, M’Dear also serves up their own sweet potato pancakes and french toast creations. They also serve fish and grits and other Southern breakfast staples. This eatery with its welcoming wait staff who are very pretty too will make any trip to Los Angeles that more special. I had the grits, eggs, and bacon and enviably watched as my mother and father enjoyed grilled salmon, and fried chicken, respectively.
