Walking the grounds of Bahla Fort I imagined myself among throngs of Muslim rich and poor who lived within its walls.
Each room I entered I imagined a merchant, server, or family communing. I also imagined the rooms filled with goods for sale, or housing supplies.
The many twists and turns inspired my inner child to round each corner with maximum curiosity.
It felt like a labyrinth.
The young Muslims who grew up in Bahla must have experienced endless adventures at Bahla Fort. During my visit, I reminisced about Sintra — Portugal’s Moorish castle. Bahla Fort has been restored and gives visitors a better idea what life may have been like on the grounds.
