In the Sultanate of Oman, marketing seems more progressive than what I remember it being back in the United States. For instance, natural hairstyles are controversial in the US so it wasn’t always that models sporting natural hair were visible. However, in Oman, that’s not the case. Surely, there seems to be an abundance of fair skin, straight hair models, but there are also frizzy crowned curly haired ones just as visible. I was delighted to see these examples of different hair textures during my most recent visit to the Omani capital, Muscat. It wasn’t the first time that I noticed this nuance of marketing in Oman, but it is the first time that I am taking the time to document it here.
Another interesting feature of the Omani landscape is the presence of a public service announcement presented by none other than Pharrell Williams, which reminds folks not to text and drive.
