Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close

It was a wonderful film. The woman said: “finding what this key opens will be a miracle.”  The relationship with his father ended, but his relationship with his mother began to flourish.  It was his grandfather all along. That his grandmother welcomed her husband back was special. I would have been very surprised and thoroughly touched if that story was true.

At some point during the viewing of that movie, I decided that I was not suffering. I made up my mind that I was not a victim and that I was not being led down a hopeless, desolate, abandoned road. Instead, I was living my life and finding everything that it had to offer. I began to see that I was very lucky. Although I thought that I was not getting what I wanted, I began to see that what life had to offer me was more than I expected. It didn’t matter what I wanted, I needed to see and enjoy what I was getting, which was wonderful.

The lesson I took from watching that movie is that everything is wonderful. It is all good. Most important, the boy had to conquer his fears.
